Comedian encourages YouTube community to freely react to ‘India’s Got Latent’ Season 2 episodes without fear of copyright strikes
Samay Raina is once again making headlines, this time for a move that has caught the attention of the entire YouTube community. After the first episode of ‘India’s Got Latent’ Season 2 clocked a massive 44 million views on YouTube, the comedian decided to take a surprising yet creator-friendly step. His latest announcement is being seen as a strong gesture toward digital creators.
“There will be no copyright issues from my channel…”
In a major update, Samay revealed that YouTube creators can freely react to episodes of India’s Got Latent Season 2 without worrying about copyright strikes. Sharing the news on Instagram Stories, he wrote: “Quick Update. We have fixed the audio issues some people experienced on YouTube. Anybody from the YouTube community is free to react to India’s Got Latent’s public YouTube episodes. There will be no copyright issues from my channel. Enjoy.”
This move has been widely appreciated as it encourages creators to engage with the content without restrictions, something that is still rare in the digital space.
From Netflix debate to dual release
Interestingly, Samay had earlier sparked mixed reactions when he announced that the new season would stream on Netflix. Many fans were not happy with the platform shift. Addressing the concern, he later clarified that the announcement was partly to test his YouTube fan base. He eventually decided to release the show on both Netflix and YouTube, keeping his core audience intact.
Celeb guests and viral moments
The first episode featured Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, who appeared on the show to promote their film Alpha. Their presence added to the episode’s buzz, with several clips going viral online.
After the episode’s success, Samay shared a heartfelt note for both actors, writing: “Soooo much love for @aliaabhatt and @sharvari for being so chill and fun. Takes a lot of guts for someone at such heights of the game. Humbled by your humility and learnt so much from you. I was always a fan of your work but now even bigger fan of the people you are.”
Behind-the-scenes moments also grabbed attention, with Alia revealing: “I have only watched Latent, by the way, on my flight. You sent me that episode, which I watched; I was laughing loudly (imitates herself) and, like, not realising Raha is sleeping next to me, with my headphones, disturbing everybody.”
A fresh start after controversy
Season 2 marks a fresh chapter for ‘India’s Got Latent’. The previous season had landed in controversy after remarks by Ranveer Allahbadia triggered backlash and led to multiple FIRs. In response, Samay had taken down all earlier episodes.
With a cleaner slate and a more inclusive approach, the new season seems to be resonating strongly with viewers and creators alike.
