Social media influencer Estee Williams has announced the tragic death of her eight-month-old daughter, Estelle, who passed away after being denied a heart transplant.

1. Who is Estee Williams?
Estee Williams is a 29-year-old social media influencer from Virginia who rose to prominence creating “tradwife” content — short for traditional wife — which romanticises a vintage, domestic lifestyle centered on homemaking, cooking, and motherhood .
However, after Estelle’s birth and subsequent health crisis, Williams stepped back from the viral lifestyle trend to focus entirely on her daughter’s medical needs. She has amassed over 108,000 followers on Instagram, where she kept her audience updated on Estelle’s journey .
2. What happened to Estelle?
Estelle was born on September 5, 2025, to Williams and her husband Conner. Just two days after her birth, she was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect known as ventricular septal defect (VSD) — commonly called a hole in the heart .
While VSD is a common newborn heart condition, Estelle’s case was far from typical. Williams told PEOPLE that the hole in Estelle’s heart was “well beyond what is considered large,” measuring a staggering 30 mm — approximately the size of an orange, when a healthy baby’s heart would be about the size of a walnut .
3. What surgeries and complications did she face?
Estelle’s medical journey was marked by repeated surgeries and setbacks:
- At just 11 weeks old, she underwent an “extremely difficult and delicate” open-heart surgery to repair the VSD with a 3 cm patch .
- Because the patch was so extensive and unable to contract like a normal septum, her post-operative recovery was complicated. Within two weeks, she underwent a second open-heart surgery due to complete heart block .
- In December 2025, Estelle went into cardiac arrest and was placed on life support. Doctors determined she could not leave the hospital until she received a heart transplant .
4. Why was she denied a heart transplant?
Estelle was placed at the top of the heart transplant waitlist (Status 1A) on New Year’s Eve 2025 . However, in April 2026, Williams was told her daughter was considered ineligible due to various health complications, including sepsis, issues with blood clotting, and abnormal fluid in her body .
Estelle’s eligibility briefly returned after her condition improved, but in a devastating May 13 update, Williams shared that her daughter had been removed from the transplant list for a second time. She wrote, “This week has been extremely tough. Estelle is once again ineligible for a heart transplant” .
5. How did Estelle pass away?
On May 30, 2026, Williams announced Estelle’s death on her Instagram Story alongside a photo of her holding her baby. She wrote, “Until we meet again, my sweet Estelle,” adding an angel wings emoji .
Williams confirmed to PEOPLE that Estelle died from multiple organ failure after spending months hooked to hospital machines .
In the months before her passing, Williams often referred to Estelle as her “little miracle baby” and “a living testament to God’s unfailing love and mercy.” At six months, she wrote: “Six months of memories, some incredibly joyful, others deeply heartbreaking, yet every single moment has been precious” .
