For every woman who has ever struggled with multiple shopping bags in a crowded Delhi market while wishing for an extra pair of hands (or a boyfriend who doesn’t complain), relief has finally arrived.

A Delhi-based startup named CarryMen is offering trained shopping assistants who will carry your bags, navigate the crowds, wait in food queues, and even set up a portable chair for you to rest — all for ₹149 per hour .

The tagline is simple: “You shop. We carry.”

What exactly does CarryMen offer?

Launched in April 2026 in Lajpat Nagar, CarryMen assigns a trained assistant to accompany shoppers through the market. For ₹149 per hour (or ₹79 for 30 minutes), customers can book helpers for two, three, or four-hour slots .

The shopping assistant handles:

  • Carrying all your shopping bags
  • Navigating through crowded market lanes
  • Waiting in food queues while you shop
  • Guiding you to parking areas or the metro station
  • Finding seating spots when you get tired

But here is what has shoppers — especially women — particularly excited: the service also includes portable foldable chairs, umbrellas for sun and rain, power banks for phone charging, and hydration assistance .

Yes, you can literally sit in the middle of Lajpat Nagar’s chaotic streets while someone fans you and holds your iced coffee.

Who is this really for?

While the “no boyfriend” angle has made the startup viral on social media, the founders say the service is designed for a much wider audience.

Elderly shoppers have become one of the biggest user groups. Many older women who want to shop for clothes, curtains, bedsheets, and household items find it physically difficult to carry heavy bags through crowded lanes .

Pregnant women have also been booking the service. Walking through markets while carrying shopping bags is already exhausting; adding pregnancy to the equation makes it nearly impossible. CarryMen also offers stroller rentals at an extra charge for parents shopping with toddlers .

One user commented on social media: “Finally someone thought about this. My mother loves Sarojini Nagar but her knees don’t. This is perfect for her.”

How it started

The idea came from the founders’ own experiences growing up in Delhi and shopping with family members. They realized that shopping in Delhi’s famous street markets — Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Chandni Chowk — is exciting but physically exhausting. Carrying heavy bags, standing in queues, searching for seating, dealing with heat and crowds — the stress often overshadows the joy .

Instead of changing the shopping culture, they decided to make it more comfortable.

The viral moment

CarryMen has grown mostly through word-of-mouth and organic social media discussions rather than expensive advertising campaigns .

One viral meme suggested the startup should offer emotional support along with physical assistance, with a user joking: “Will they also listen to my friend complain about why I bought another pair of shoes I don’t need?” Another asked: “Can they carry my emotional baggage too?”

Expansion plans

Currently operating primarily in Lajpat Nagar, CarryMen has already completed over 50 bookings within its first month. The founders say expansion plans for Chandni Chowk are already underway .

For now, the weight limit for one assistant is 12 kg. Customers carrying heavier loads can hire additional helpers.

The bottom line

For women tired of being their own bag carriers, for elderly parents who still want to enjoy Delhi’s markets, for pregnant women who need support, and yes, for singles without a boyfriend to hold their shopping — CarryMen might just be the most practical startup to come out of Delhi in 2026.

As one Instagram user put it: “Finally, a startup that understands my real problem. Not inflation. Not unemployment. Just who will carry my bags in Sarojini.”
